AI USE AT COMMAND ALKON INCORPORATED: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Additional Languages:

Command Alkon Incorporated (“CAI”) builds software and hardware solutions for the heavy building materials industry. We are actively integrating artificial intelligence (“AI”) to enhance our products, improve our operations, and help our customers operate more efficiently and intelligently. We are committed to using AI responsibly, with a strong focus on transparency, security, and human oversight. This FAQ explains how we use AI, how we govern it, and what it means for you as our customer or partner.

1. DOES CAI USE AI IN ITS PRODUCTS AND OPERATIONS?

Yes. AI is an important and rapidly expanding part of how we operate and how we deliver value to our customers. We are continuously evolving its use across four main areas:

  • Embedded in our software: We integrate AI capabilities to enhance product functionality, improve operational efficiency, and deliver more intelligent workflows, automation, and insights. Specific examples include turning operational data into autonomous execution within defined constraints, for customer support features, and for reporting and analytics.
  • Internal operations: We use AI to support our teams in areas such as software development, employee productivity, and customer service, enabling faster and more effective outcomes.
  • Continuous improvement and innovations: We leverage AI to analyze data, identify patterns, and continuously improve our products, services, and customer outcomes.
  • In our products: Command Intelligence is a developing suite of AI-powered capabilities within Command Cloud – including conversational analytics, intelligent agents, and operations optimization – purpose-built for the heavy building materials industry.

2. WHAT FRAMEWORK GOVERNS CAI’S AI PROGRAM?

We align our AI governance with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (“NIST AI RMF”), the leading U.S. standard for trustworthy and responsible AI. Our program is designed to support the NIST AI RMF’s core functions: Govern, Map, Measure, and Manage.

3. HOW IS AI GOVERNED INTERNALLY?

  • Policies and procedures: we maintain written AI policies and procedures covering acceptable use, data handling, risk assessment, and human oversight.
  • Employee training: our workforce receives regular training on responsible AI use and our internal policies.
  • AI Committee: a cross-functional committee meets regularly to review, approve, and monitor AI use cases across the company. New AI use cases are reviewed before deployment and monitored on an ongoing basis.

4. HOW DOES CAI MANAGE THIRD-PARTY VENDOR AI USE?

We assess and monitor third-party vendors that provide or incorporate AI in the tools and services we use through our contract intake process and our Vendor Security Assessment. Vendor review includes security, data handling, model practices, and alignment with our AI policies.

5. DOES CAI USE CUSTOMER DATA TO TRAIN AI MODELS?

We do not use customer data to train third-party foundation models.

We may use appropriately protected and non-sensitive customer data to improve certain AI-enabled features within our products, in accordance with customer agreements and our privacy and security commitments.

Where AI features process customer data, we do so transparently and consistent with the applicable customer agreement, our privacy commitments, and our security and AI policies and standards. Specific data-handling details for any AI feature are available in the applicable product documentation or upon request.

6. IS THERE HUMAN OVERSIGHT OF AI OUTPUTS?

Yes. AI in our products and operations is designed to assist humans, not replace their judgment. For decisions that affect customer operations, safety, compliance, or individual rights, qualified personnel remain responsible for the final outcome.

7. HOW DO YOU ADDRESS ACCURACY, BIAS, AND RELIABILITY?

Our AI RMF-aligned process includes risk identification/risk register, testing, and ongoing monitoring appropriate to each use case. Higher-risk use cases receive additional review by the AI Committee before and after deployment.

8. HOW DO YOU HANDLE SECURITY FOR AI SYSTEMS?

AI systems are covered by our broader information security program, including access controls, monitoring, and vendor due diligence. AI-specific risks (such as prompt injection, model misuse, and data leakage) are part of our risk assessment process.

9. WILL YOU TELL CUSTOMERS WHEN AI IS USED IN A PRODUCT FEATURE?

Yes. We identify AI-enabled features in product documentation and are happy to answer specific questions about how a given feature works, what data it uses, and what controls are available.

10. WHO CAN I CONTACT WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT CAI’S AI PROGRAM?

Please reach out to your account representative or contact us at privacy@commandalkon.com. Questions from security, privacy, or compliance teams are welcome and we are happy to complete reasonable AI due diligence requests.
